Research Area 1

Name: Basic Health Mechanisms and Technologies

Description: It covers research lines that analyze chemical, physical, physicochemical, molecular, biochemical, biological and biotechnological mechanisms and processes related to the development of new diagnostic methods and prophylactic and therapeutic procedures that promote health through an interdisciplinary approach to trials for characterization of aspects related to the health-disease process and biological validation of health compounds and products.

Research lines associated with Research Area 1:

Research line 1.1: Molecular and Functional Mechanisms of Human Health

Description: This research line investigates infectious, molecular, cellular and functional processes that affect health conditions for the development and synthesis of therapeutic agents and new perspectives to create strategies for disease diagnosis, prevention, control and treatment.

Research line 1.2: Nanobiotechnology Applied to Health

Description: This research line is based on the interface between technology and health, investigating the synthesis of new compounds with biological activity and their associations between nanometric structures and subsequent studies in experimental models with targets focusing on the health field.

Research Area 2

Name: Health Promotion, Prevention and Intervention

Description: It covers research lines that coordinate contributions from different health sciences in a multidisciplinary approach and interdisciplinary health actions that allow the development of aspects related to all levels of health care.

Research lines associated with Research Area 2:

Research line 2.1: Policies, Programs, Services, Education and Sociability in Health

Description: This research line analyzes sociopolitical, demographic, environmental and educational contexts as they interface with health services, programs and policies to investigate processes of construction and operationalization of policies, services and strategies for health promotion and prevention.

Research line 2.2: Diagnostic, Therapeutic, Care and Occupational Strategies for Health Development and Human Functionality

Description: This research line analyzes human health and functionality, from the perspective of the body and its potentialities, investigating the relationships between structures and functions of organic systems, activities and human participation and contextual factors to develop interdisciplinary technologies and strategies for health care prevention and promotion.

Research line 2.3: Sociobiological Determinants and Health Care

Description: This research line develops studies that address the care process and sociobiological determinants as well as health promotion and prevention strategies in different life cycles.
